This Chair Rocks!

Now this a hybrid!

Designed by Paul Kweton of Houston for Barkitecture, the "merge" & "morph" manipulation of the old school rocking chair and doghouse generates a hybrid "furniture" that combines the idea of shelter and body relaxation and pushes its functionality to a different, more personal level.

Yeah, this is on my official wish list.

Dogs Rule

Advertising Agency: TBWA\Chiat\Day, Los Angeles

A new trend of families leaving their pets behind after losing their homes to foreclosure has animal rights advocates concerned across the country, according to the Humane Society of the United States. The leading animal advocacy group says an onslaught of new home foreclosures has led to an increase in animal abandonment reports.

“Abandoned pets face a grim future,” the Humane Society asserted in a press statement. “Many pets trapped inside abandoned homes aren't found until they're on the brink of starvation. Those lucky enough to reach a shelter have about a 50-percent chance of being adopted.”

Man, I wish we could handle more than our 2 sweet rescue pups Ringo and Dazy.

Have a heart, take the first step and if you're able - do something: Humane Society of the United States. You won't regret it - Dogs Rule!

The Charlybox

Sweet! Our good pups Ringo and Dazy (and of course Charlie up the street) are gonna love the Charlybox.

This cool and simple compact carrier is perfect for food and water when you're on the go with your favorite pooches.

Made of two halves, the Charlybox includes a two-liter canteen for fresh water, and two bowls for water and kibble. Snap the two halves together and you and your pups are good to go.

As usual with stuff from Design Within Reach, it's more times than not out of our reach, but we might just have to break down and snag one of these.

You can get your very own over at: Design Within Reach

Separated At Birth?

Been reading about one of my favorite dogs, Liaka The Space Dog, and found this one shot that looks alot like our good dog Ringo.

If you're not familiar with the amazingly brave Laika there's a brief history here: Laika

Laika was one of the Russian space dogs and the first living passenger to enter orbit on Sputnik 2, a Soviet spacecraft. Some classify her as the first animal to enter space, although others argue that animals had entered space during sub-orbital flights on previous missions.

Laika is also the name of several breeds of dogs.

Laika was found as a stray wandering the streets of Moscow, a female part-Samoyed terrier weighing approximately 13 pounds and about 3 years old. Her name was changed from Kudryavka (Russian for "Little Curly"), and she was nicknamed Zhuchka ("Little Bug") and Limonchik ("Lemon"). The American press dubbed her Muttnik (a portmanteau of mutt and Sputnik).

Other than a brief mention in one of my favorite movies, My Life As A Dog, there's nothing even close to a full-on movie about Laika's story - I think it'd make an awesome movie.

Meanwhile, check out the Ringo Merch!
