Repost: Real or Fake App

It's been just over 2 years since I shared the first of a handful of Apps I've been working on with my team at CreekFrog, available, of course, at the iTunes Store!

Dig the ultimate party ice breaker:: Real or Fake? Truth Detective!

Hawaii 5-0 - Genius or Lame? The truth - Genius!

Customize your test and share the truth!

Here's an excerpt from the official press release:

"To create a unique visual experience for “Real or Fake? Truth Detective,” CreekFrog collaborated with artist H. Michael Karshis, whose iconic iPod speaker art has been featured in Leander Kahney's Cult of iPod book."

I designed and created the industrial front-end look and feel along with streamlining the original concept.

Totally customizable, Real or Fake is really a sweet little social/party App that truly gets better the more you play and share. It's truly the perfect ice breaker!

Shit or Shinola?

Beatles or Stones?

Boxers or Briefs, Natural or Bottled, you get the idea - check it out, have fun and remember: Nothing Is Real Until It Is Shared!

McNally Jackson Cafe

Wow, really digging the thinking, simplicity and use of materials New York based Front Studio combined for the design and renovation of the McNally Jackson Cafe, part of the McNally Jackson Bookstore in Manhattan’s Nolita neighborhood.

I'm especially loving the folding single tables running along the wall ingeniously designed and crafted to resemble a folded book when closed.

Outstanding execution! Enjoy: McNally Jackson Cafe.

iPad Arcade Cabinet

This is genius!

From the ThinkGeek site:

To use the iCade, gently slide the iPad into the docking cradle. The docking cradle uses a standard 30 pin connector to link the iPad to the professional-grade arcade controls. Once the iPad is in place, launch the iCade App (available free in the App Store April 3rd) and it's game on! We didn't want to take any chances you'd run out of juice during your favorite game, so we included a 10w USB power adapter so you can charge the iPad through any electrical outlet.

You know you want one - iPad Arcade Cabinet!

Manual Espresso

Bringing the press back to espresso - check out this environmentally friendly, manually operated Espresso Maker.

Using almost zero electricity and enabling you to make great café-style coffee at home, the only enegry it requires is the amount of energy it takes to boil some water and then a little human-powered force to press down the arms of the machine.

Nice!

Magnet Mobiles

Man, I really want one of these! Check out the latest product from creative collaboration Laikingland, Magnet Mobiles by Ivan Black.

Laikingland, based in both the UK and The Netherlands, design and manufacture beautifully crafted kinetic objects that engage, and evoke a sense of wonder, play and nostalgia.

These awesome magnetic mobiles consist of lightweight rotating forms that spiral around magnet and ball bearing mechanisms. The near frictionless mechanisms allow the Magnet Mobiles to be activated with a simple light blow.

Deli Branding

This is really nice work from design studio Rethink Communications.

La Charcuterie is a Vancouver deli/restaurant hybrid known for serving up sandwiches filled with awesome deli meats. To play off this, business cards were created to look like cold cuts then were strung in netting similar to the way salami’s and other cured meats are hung in delis.

Rethink also printed meat stickers for the letterhead and envelopes made of butcher paper - the same paper they wrap their sandwiches in.

Smart stuff with an awesome execution - can't wait to visit this place and get my hands on both some samples of the new branding as well as a one of those sandwhiches!

Wat?

These are so awesome!

Check out the rest of New Zealand illustrator and designer Toby Morris's daily drawings on his life in Amsterdam. I really dig his man on the street perspective of everyday life in one of the world's most amazing cities.

He does these when he's not designing gig posters, eating cheese and drinking beer in sunny Amsterdam.

Good stuff, rock on Toby and thanks for making me laugh!

ModKnobs

ModKnobs is a brand new little company producing some really hip and modern door knobs.

As the story goes, Mary & Jeff, founders of ModKnobs, were remodeling their home and were having a really hard time finding cool, affordable doorknobs.

So, Jeff decided to design his own door knobs—with sleek lines, earth-friendly materials and superior lock sets, using, that's right, blue hockey pucks!

Everyone that came over to their house absolutely loved them, so they decided to start making them for other people, too. Like you.

My only gripe is the the 150US price tag. Ouch. I love the fact that they started out looking for an affordable solution, found one and have done a great job turning the concept into a nice little business with a simple, elegant and informative site - nice job, but as far as making them an affordable alternative for the masses, if that in fact is their intent, I think they sort of missed the mark.

Overall, ModKnobs, is a very cool and smart idea. But considering the state of the planet, and most people's budgets right now - let's just file this under: Design Out of Reach...

Graphkin

Genius.

Graphkin: 2ply recycled graph paper napkins.

Some of the world's greatest designs, famous buildings and innovative ideas have all started out as sketches on paper napkins. Now with Graphkin you can skribble with precision accuracy!
