KSYM Pledge Drive 2011 - It's On!

It's Pledge Drive 2011 at KSYM! The above are this years t-shirt designs I did as premium offerings for a pledge of $25 or more to the mighty KSYM, 90.1 FM here in San Antonio.

The top shirt is for my Beatle loving freak and friend Richard Turner. Richard is celebrating the 25h Anniversary of his awesome Best Of The Beatles Show that's been on the air every Sunday morning from 9-12 since 1986! Congratulations Richard!

And as if his on air tribute to the Fab Four isn't enough - check out Richard's guitar store in Olmos Park, Redbone Guitar Boutique! He's created a replica of the Cavern Club within the store complete with tons of authentic Beatles memorabilia, swag and of course there are some wicked nice guitars, amps and other gear for sale, including both right and left-handed guitars like Hofner, Vox, Eastman, Duesenberg, Collings, and Gretsch, just to name a few! Do your self a favor and check it out!

The second shirt is for one of my beer drinking, music loving buds, Sir Bobby J and his Mainstream 120 Show. It's San Antonio's only all vinyl Jazz Show and you can check it out every Saturday Morning from 9-11.

Now, if only the folks that maintain the KSYM website were as dedicated, creative and imaginative as the DJ's.... Oh well, good thing it's all about the music! VIVA KSYM!

For Those About To Shop

Wow, I'm really digging this AC/DC Deluxe Collector's Edition Amp packaging. It's got some wicked nice attention to detail - complete with a working amplifier! Genius!

"The exterior box is designed to resemble a vintage AC/DC guitar amp – complete with the original logo that was spray-painted onto the rear of Angus and Malcolm’s speaker cabinets in 1975. The “head” of the amp has a handle that lifts the top off to reveal the contents housed within.

Oh yeah, the head is also a WORKING GUITAR AMPLIFIER!

That’s right, one watt of pure AC/DC makes this box a truly unique collector’s item. You can PLAY the box set while LISTENING TO the box set! Check out the videos of Angus using the amp.

The box, which includes 3 CDs and 2 DVDs of ACDC rare tracks, recordings and videos, also includes a 12" LP, numerous memorabilia reproductions as well as a 164-page hard bound book containing rare and unseen photos spanning 1974-2009 plus full-size re-prints of original press releases, tour itineraries, tour books, test pressing labels, advertisements and much more. A real history of the band from the inside out.

Rare photography includes never-before-seen shots of the band recording at the Albert Music studio on King Street in Sydney with legendary producers Harry Vanda and George Young in 1977. Also tons of unpublished live shots from all over the world."

Designed over a 2 year period by Phil Yarnall of SMAY DESIGN - we salute you!

Thanks to the smart folks over at The Dieline.

This Saturday! Meet Rusty Anderson, Paul MacCartney's Guitar Player!

This Saturday! Rusty Anderson, Paul MacCartney's Guitar Player At Redbone Guitar Boutique!

Brain Ray Guitar Clinic
Above: Brian Ray, super wicked nice guy, guitarist and bass player for Sir Paul MacCartney at the Redbone Cavern Club last Saturday for the Summer Clinic Series on June 13th sharing stories, guitar techniques and some truly great words of wisdom for anyone aspiring to be the best they can be and the all important aspect of always saying "Yes" to everything until you're too busy and have to say no.

Sounds like a recipe for success to me! And did I mention his first solo album, Electro Magneto, containing the infectiously bitchin' "Vinyl", seriously kicks ass? Well my friends, it does!

More on Brian here: www.brianray.com

And on a totally cool note, I had the great pleasure of joining Brian for dinner thanks to Richard Turner and all the awesome folks over at Redbone Guitar Boutique. I even got to bring along one of my old high school buds Robert Rael - it was an very cool day! Thanks again Richard for including me and letting me be part of Team Redbone!

And I'm not just saying all this because Redbone Guitar Boutique is one of my clients - they are truly real deal people and I'm a very lucky dude to have them as both friends and truly one of my most favorite clients ever!

So what are you waiting for - whether you're a rock freak or a guitar nut, either way you're sure to really dig the vibe of the store, the folks that run it, the catering, beer and wine is a nice touch, and if you're lucky enough, you might be the dude that leaves with a brand spanking new Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Junior, signed by both Brian & Rusty!

The odds of winning are crazy and a deal in and of itself regardless of the clinic!

Seating is limited for this Saturday's Clinic featuring Rusty Anderson, Sir Paul's other Wingman, so do yourself a favor and secure your VIP space right now over at Redbone Guitar Boutique or call 210.822.4111!

See you there!

Muy Tiki Bongo!

El Estratografico has an awesome Flickr set of Vintage 45 Covers that must be seen! - case and point, from the Spanish Microwatt label, this muy bonito 1962 Flexidisc cover for Michelin... I'd love to have the audio from this.

Very nice!

And speaking of Tiki Bongo and Cha Cha Cha... Dig the new single and my primitive keyboard skills, just in time for FIESTA down here in San Antonio: Totally Fiesta Cha Cha Cha.

The Ferguson Trio. A righteous, rocking threesome for God with a honey of a hotrod and trailer. “Sing the Gospel” on Praise records.

I love cheesy lp art, check out these awesome Album Covers and you know, the art of 45's, like this French classic from 1961 can be pretty sweet as well...
